Dear Woodburn,

I enclose a brief account - I hesitate to call it a history - of the activities of the North East Region of the Ministry of Information, together with a supplementary account of Anglo-American relations in the Region. A staff list, past and present, is also enclosed.

It is a plain, unvarnished tale, informative rather than elevating, but I hope that it has captured something of the spirit of those “temporaries” who served the Ministry with such devotion and unselfishness, and have now gone their way.
