DUTY ROOM - POINTS DISCUSSED PROVISIONALLY

1. The Duty Room should develop into the nerve-centre of the Ministry.

2. There should be an officer as Editor and Secretary

3. The Duty Room should be suitably staffed at all hours of the day and night, and the main work of the Duty Room should be carried out by meetings of the higher officers of the Ministry with the Service Representatives: and the Ministry of Information representatives in the Service War Rooms should attend for the purpose.

4. Detailed executive work to take place outside the Duty Room and the function of the Duty Room to be directive only; therefore the responsibility of the Duty Room is to see that the office units are in a position to give guidance.

5. The Anti-lie Section to be moved across to the neighbourhood of the Duty Room and to provide the secretarial assistance required for the present.

6. The question with which officers of the Ministry our representatives in the Service War Rooms should communicate was left to their discretion.
