1. REPORTS FROM SERVICE ADVISERS.

2. AFRICAN CAMPAIGN FILM.

[F. 256/909.]

Mr. Gates stated that in the film made jointly with the Americans of the North African campaign a fictitious code word had been used to describe the operation. A preliminary showing of the film, however, had produced the objection from the Services that this fictitious code word would lead to confusion; the Americans, for instance, would think it was our code word and that tended to destroy the idea that the film was a joint effort. Mr. Gates added that he had raised the question with the military authorities, but they refused to release the true word on the grounds of security. Brigadier Neville was asked to see if any further action could be taken.
