1. REPORTS FROM SERVICE ADVISERS

2. FOOD SHORTAGE IN INDIA .

[EP/105/65.]

Mr. Cruikshank informed the Board that a number of posters had appeared on hoardings advertising a meeting in London to discuss the Calcutta food shortage. The posters quoted a U.P. message which spoke of thousands dying in the streets while 17-course dinners were being served in Calcutta. The meeting is to be addressed by two M.Ps. The Board agreed that official information on action taken to deal with the crisis was still inadequate; and Mr. Huxley was invited to make further representations to the India Office. (See Minutes of September l6th, 1943).

N.B. No Minutes were issued yesterday, September 29th, 1943.
