1. REPORTS FROM SERVICE ADVISERS .

2. BEVERIDGE PAMPHLETS . (See Minutes of March 30th.)

[GP/39/512]

Mr. Grubb reported that requests continued for an authoritative summary of the Governments undertakings and reservations in respect of the Beveridge Report; that approaches had been made to the Lord President's office with a view to the preparation there of such a summary; but that some time would elapse before it could be provided, and that meanwhile the need was urgent. The Chairman explained that a further statement might be expected shortly in the House and that this would probably provide what was needed. Meanwhile he considered that an adequately authoritative summary could only be provided by the Lord President's office, and he invited Mr. Grubb to pursue this if it appeared likely to materialise substantially in advance of the expected Government statement.
