CONSTITUTION OF POLICY COMMITTEE AND EXECUTIVE BOARD.

1. The Policy Committee meets on Thursdays at 9.45 a.m. in the Chancellor's Hall, presided over by the Minister.

2. Its function is to consider important issues of policy on which it would be an advantage, to the Minister to have the views of all who are concerned with the policy and to have them tested and clarified by discussion.

3. Its composition is;

The Minister, with the Parliamentary Secretary and the Minister's Parliamentary Private Secretary.

Director General, with his personal Assistant.

Deputy Director General.

Hon. Adviser.

Controllers and Principal Assistant Secretaries.

Chief Press Relations Officers.

The B.B.C. represented by the Director General of the B.B.C. and/or any others he deputes.

The Director of the Broadcasting Division.

Liaison Officer from C.H:

Such Directors and Assistant Secretaries as are invited to attend for particular business

4. The Secretary is Mr. Waddell. Business will normally be the consideration of papers circulated through the Secretary 48 hours in advance . Any member not interested in any item on the agenda may excuse himself. Urgent business not on the agenda may however be taken at the pleasure of the Minister.

5. The Executive Board meets on M. Tu. W. and F. at 9.45 a.m. in Room 136, presided over by the Director-General.

6. Its function is to consider executive action, minor issues of policy, and domestic questions, important enough to be referred to the Director-General and wide enough to be more conveniently settled after 230 - 3 -discussion then by departmental procedure.

7. Its composition is:

Deputy Director-General

Controller of Overseas Publicity

Hon. Adviser

Controller of Production

Controller of Press and Censorship

Such others officers as may be invited to attend, but Chief Press Relations Officer, Director of the Broadcasting Division, Personal Assistant to the Director General have an invitation to attend regularly, and Principal Assistant Secretaries see minutes and agendas and have the right to attend at their own request for any particular business. They should notify the Secretary on these occasions.

The Secretary is Mr. Waddell. Papers to be circulated and items for agenda to be notified through Secretary 24 hours in advance , but business not on agenda may be raised and discussed subject to the Director-General's consent.
