EXECUTIVE BOARD
Wednesday, 14th May, 1941

PRESENT:

D.G.

D.D.G.

Sir Maurice Peterson

Lord Davidson

Mr. Radcliffe

Mr. Bamford

Mr. Gates

Mr. Waddell (Secretary)

1. The minutes of the meeting on 13th May were taken as read and approved.

2. RELEASE OF MEN FROM THE FORCES (See minutes of meeting on 2nd April)

Lord Davidson referred to the question of the release of Ralph Richardson from the R.N.A.S. to take part in a commercial film. He explained that the principle upon which he had acted, after consultation with the D.D.G., was that, provided a film proposed by an outside firm was regarded as valuable propaganda, representations might be made for the temporary release of an individual from the Services. If the request was refused the Ministry should accept the decision. In the case of an M.O.I. film whether produced for the Ministry by an outside firm or by the Crown Film Unit, the rights of the Ministry to take whatever action was deemed appropriate must be reserved.
