FILM MAGAZINE

The attached paper from the Films Division concerns a proposal that the Ministry should produce a monthly Film Magazine for distribution abroad at an estimated cost of £12,000 per annum.

Mr. Bamford agrees with me that this proposal should be considered by the Board, not only because of the cost, and the possible reactions of the Newsreel Companies and the British Council, but chiefly because the two Honorary Advisers to the Films Division, Mr. Bernstein and Colonel Bromhead, differ in their estimate of its merits.

A similar proposal, for a cinemagazine containing news, was rejected last year, when the British Olympic Newsreel was started. The present proposal is strongly recommended by Commander Jarrett in his report on M.O.I. films in the U.S.A.
