1. REPORTS FROM SERVICE ADVISERS .

2. DIGEST FOR TROOPS.

[LE.]

The Chairman said that Lord Louis Mountbatten had sent a copy of a miniature digest produced in America, with the suggestion that if something similar were done in Britain he would like to distribute it among his troops. Mr. Royds was asked to examine the digest and to report on it.

3. AMERICAN NEWSPAPERS

[AM/38/189.]

The D.D.G. reported that Major Shorter of the U.S. Array Supply Department had informed the Paper Control that it was proposed to publish various American newspapers in this country, and that the paper would be made available by the American Army. The printing facilities normally available to the American Forces would be used and the newspapers would be distributed to the American troops. The Ministry of Supply pointed out that a licence would be required in each case. They proposed to ask to be notified of the number involved, and would consult the Ministry of Information. It was left to the D.D.G. to maintain contact with the Ministry of Supply.
