1. REPORTS FROM SERVICE ADVISERS .

2. BILL POSTERS AND PAPER .

[6p/135/359]

The D.D.G. reported that the Minister of Supply had agreed to receive a deputation to reconsider this question, and had invited representation from, the Ministry. The Chairman directed that Mr. Royds or Mr. Vaughan should attend with a Watching brief.

3. POLISH NEWSPAPERS.

[6p/135/108]

Mr. Francis Williams reported, that the Polish Minister of Information and Dr. Litauer had called on the Minister to enlist support in disciplining certain heterodox Polish newspapers in this country, and asked the views of the Board on the possibility and propriety of delegating to the Polish Ministry of Information the allocation of paper at present made available to individual publications under the Ministry's sponsorship. Mr. Grubb added that the European Division had a long and painful experience of these complaints. He further explained that a number of more intransigent publications obtained their paper from printers’ stocks and were therefore beyond any control which could be exercised through the quota. The Board agreed that the situation in general was unsatisfactory, and the Chairman invited Mr. Francis Williams and Mr. Grubb to review it and report their conclusions to the Board.
