1. REPORTS FROM SERVICE ADVISERS.

2. SPELLING OF CHINESE NAMES .

[FP/103/4.]

Mr. Grubb reported that as a result of uncertainty in many divisions of the Ministry as to the spelling of Chinese names, a list of those in current use had been prepared and agreed with the Foreign Office. The Board approved Mr. Grubb's proposal to circulate this information to all divisions, and the Chairman directed that it be strictly followed throughout the Ministry.

3. POSTWAR CIVIL AVIATION.

[AM/429.]

Mr. Cruikshank enquired whether any guidance was available as to Government policy on this question. He explained that requests for such guidance had already begun to be received from B.I.S., and it was his view that the subject would continue to be widely debated in the near future. Discussion confirmed that no comprehensive indication of Government policy seemed to be available, and the Chairman invited Mr. Cruikshank to seek guidance in the first instance from the Foreign Office.
