1. The minutes of the meeting on 18th August, were taken as read and approved.

2. The Service Advisers and Mr. McIver and Mr. Nash reported on the day's news, and then left the meeting.

3. BROADCAST BY PRIME MINISTER.

D.G. intimated that the Prime Minister intended to broadcast on Sunday evening and that news of this could be released.

4. MEETING WITH LONDON EDITORS.

Mr. Francis Williams promised to see the Minister in connection with a meeting with London Editors which was being arranged for Friday, at 3.30 in Downing Street.

5. PUBLICITY ON RECONSTRUCTION.

Mr. Bamford reported that he had been approached by Mr. Vincent of the Ministry of Works and Buildings about a scheme for long term publicity on the aspects of reconstruction with which his Ministry was concerned. He gathered that Mr. Vincent was dissatisfied with the programme of talks tentatively arranged by the B.B.C. for the period October to December, and that there would probably be a suggestion 192 -2-for a campaign independent of the Ministry. It was agreed that this should he resisted and that Mr. Vincent should he asked in the first place to see Mr. Bamford; arrangements would be made if necessary for the establishment of a committee to deal with any publicity required.

6. SECOND INTER-ALLIED MEETING.

The D.G. promised to speak to the Minister in connection with item 7 of the minutes of the meeting on 15th August - the need for a larger meeting place.

7. ATTENDANCE OF CENSORS AT MEETINGS WITH THE PRESS.

Mr. Tree promised to remind the Minister's Office of the need to invite a representative of the Censorship Division to all meetings between the Minister and the Press.
