Housewives were asked whether they approved or disapproved of the reservation of oranges for children under 5.
Opinion seems to be almost equally divided. 46.6% approve and 48.7% disapprove. Significant differences appear in the attitudes of the different groups interviewed.

It will be seen that approval is smaller than average in the lower income groups and more than average in the higher groups. The difference between the groups in the above figures though not large is statistically significant.

These figures show sharp regional differences in attitude to the scheme. The differences between regions approving and disapproving are somewhat larger than the differences in attitude of the social groups.
C.
Family Types
Since the scheme might be expected to appeal differently to families with or without young children the results were analysed by family type. The “over 18 only” families are the adults only families.

There is a sharp and interesting difference between the two groups of families which have only infants or only 5-18
. The former are much more in favour of the scheme than the later. The differences between the various family types are slightly larger than regional or social group differences.
