All housewives queueing during the seven days before interview were asked how many times they queued for the commodities mentioned.

591 housewives queued out of the sample of 2,829 replying to the question and these housewives were involved in a total of 1,418 queues. This yields an average of:

  1. (a) 0.5 queues per housewife in the total sample. or 1 housewife in 2 involved in a queue during the period.

  2. (b) 2.4 queues per housewife actually queueing.

Of those housewives queueing one half queued 1.3 times during the 7 days and one quarter queued 2.79 times or more.
