SECTION 2. CONSUMPTION OF MILK GIVEN LEVELS OF CONSUMPTION PER HEAD .

In order to estimate the scheme of distribution more clearly, an analysis was made of consumption per head under four categories; families with less than two pints per head per week; families with 2-3½ pints per head per week; families with 3 1/2-5 pints per head per week; and families with more than 5 pints per head per week.

The figures below indicate that nearly 20% of the families in the sample received 3 1/2 or more pints of milk per head, about 60% of families received 2-3 1/2 pints, and just under 20% of families received loss than 2 pints per head.

Probable error has been calculated at two standard deviations for each of the items above. This applied vigorously will obscure the sharp differences shown, but the general pattern remains clear. The impression becomes sharper if total percentage over 3½ pints per head are given:-
